LAN Systems hold Breakfast Seminar on:

Ensuring Secure Document Printing, Management and Storage.

Over 20 people attended a seminar at the Tigers ‘Barbarian’ suite this morning, (Friday 11th July at 8.00am) to hear leading UK expert, Andy Cunningham, explain how to avoid the accidental loss, and deliberate theft, of confidential company information.

From independent research undertaken, it appears that:
53% of employees have found confidential documents on the office printer;
80% of fraud is perpetuated by employees;
1 in 10 employees has stolen a database or business contact details from the office…
and most worryingly of all,
29% of employees could not see anything wrong with taking confidential data from their employers workplace.

Andy explained some of the more sophisticated methods of preventing such fraud, including the use of Bio-metric ‘log-in’.Much of the latest electronic gadgetry enables the humble office printer to become a sophisticated ‘Multi Functional Device’ for storing, printing and managing data, including the ability to allocate costs to specific individuals or clients. (very useful in the professional services!) The talk was followed by a ‘hands-on’ demonstration of the systems, including the ‘Follow Me’ system which enables a user to print information confidential to themselves, on any printer in the system.

LAN Systems and their partner organisation Canon, were pleased with the response from the invited audience, and stated that this would be the first of a series of seminars on Information Security.
